Hi my name is Caitlin

Hi my name is Caitlin Jensen. I am 14 years old.  I’m writing because my Dad has this blog idea.  He told me I could add things and I thought I would tell you something about myself.

I have brown hair and hazel eyes. I am in 9th grade. I love to read books. My favorite books to read I end up getting grounded because I am reading them over and over again. Like Harry Potter for example I have probably read Harry Potter more than 15 times and have been grounded from reading them more times then I care to count. I have a whole slew of books that I have read many times and not been caught but, I won’t mention them so I won’t get grounded for reading them

I love to run outside and play games using my imagination with my siblings. our favorite game is Narnia were we all run down at the invisible White Queen’s army and we all scream ” For Narnia and for Aslan” as quoted in the books and the movie. I also love watching sports with my dad. Sometimes if I  walk in to the middle of  a game and don’t know any of the teams I ask Dad what team he is wanting to win and I cheer for that team. That is the time me and Dad bond. It is our time until Josh walks in then we all bond together.

I have lived in Pleasant Grove, Utah, Melbourne, Arkansas, and Myrtle, Missouri. I don’t remember much of living in Pleasant Grove but I remember us leaving. I was 7 when we moved and I remember me looking out the back window watching everything I knew disappear as we drove away.  In Melbourne, Arkansas I was baptized with my best friend Alexia. Another memory I have is me and Josh milking our cow at night so we could watch a Lord of the Rings movie or a Hobbit. When me and Mom milked the cow she would tell me stories of a book or a movie she remembered. If we didn’t finish the story I would try to convince Josh to let me milk that night usually he would say no and I would have to wait until it was my turn. Then we had a house fire, and everything changed. We ended up living every where and nowhere staying only in 1 place for a week  or less we were in Limbo that terrible place where nothing happens you just go where the current took you not having a say in anything.

We finally found a better property in Myrtle, MO where we built or amazing house. We have 120 acres of land there 40 acres were full of trees and brush. The other 80 acres  were fields and grass for cows. We could run  in any direction and be all alone sadly I never was alone. But I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Sure they can be annoying but I like not being alone in the long run and here is why. I woke up one Sunday morning just sick the rest of my family went to church I was all alone. It was quite and still to break the stillness I would have turned on the TV but Mom had said it was the Sabbath and that the TV shouldn’t turn on I listened to her. I tried to read a book but fell asleep before I could finish up a page. I woke up it was about 11 and it would be 2 more hours until anyone got home I read a little more and fell asleep again being bored and all alone until they got home when the noise woke me up. Since then I have to remind myself that it is a good thing that I am never alone.

Well, that’s all I have for now.   Thanks for reading.   I hope to come back often and give you my thoughts and ideas on what is going on in our lives.  Whether we are on a farm or on a boat, we are always having a ton of fun, so check back often to follow along with us.

Spring Break Activities

Monday

We started the week by giving the house a good cleaning. Julie then took the kids to Discovery Park in PG with her sister. They played and ran around there for about 2 hours.

When they got home and had some time to rest we headed over the the PGHS football field/track and did our Monday running exercise. Today they did 30 sets of stairs.

At 4pm, Josh and I met up with Greg Adams and went to the driving range to hit some balls. This was my first time in over 10 years to even attempt to swing a golf club. I only hit 5-6 balls. This was also Josh’s first time. He did fine.

After that we headed over to The Quarry as a family and spent 2 1/2 hours climbing their indoor rock walls. It was our first time there and I was impressed with the facilities and the family. The kids all did fantastic. Our best climbers are Kristie, Charlee, and Andrew. I was probably most impressed by Andrew, who at 5 years old, was able to go up portions of wall that gave the older kids trouble.

The kids cousin Brooklyn was dropped off to us while we were climbing and will spend the next 2 days with us.

Tuesday

I had three different VA appointments spread across the Salt Lake Valley, so today was Temple Square day while I did that.  We picked up Julie’s sister Jenni and her 4 kids (plus Brooklyn makes 16 of us!) as well at headed up to SLC at 8:30am.

I dropped them off and left for appointments.

Wednesday

Woke up early to take Josh to play a round of golf with Bro. Adams but at our tee time at 8:30 there was frost on the grass so we took a rain check for another time.  (Josh needs to play 18 holes to complete his golf merit badge.

Julie took our kids to Thanksgiving Point, along with the Watsons, Johnsons, and Grandparents.  We hit up the Curiosity Museum and boy is that place amazing.  It just went on forever.  I’m sure the kids could have happily spent several full days there instead of just the 4 or so hours we spent.  If you haven’t been there, give it a try!

Thursday

Julie and the kids hiked up to the “G” in Pleasant Grove.  Even Steven made this hike (and refused to be helped/carried), so what should have been about a 2 hour excursion turned into a 3.5 hour one.

It was free time after that to play with cousins or to help clean out the hot tub.

Friday

More VA appointments in SLC for me, so I dropped Julie and kids off at Temple Square again around 8:30am.   They checked out the Church History Museum and then walked down to the Gateway Mall and the Clark Planetarium.

I picked them up just a bit after noon and we stopped and had lunch with Grandma and Grandpa Jensen on the way home.

Saturday

All the normal Saturday chores to do today, but maybe a bit more needed since nobody had school.

In the afternoon Julie took the two oldest to the temple while the younger kids all played with cousins.  In the evening Julie and I attended the adult session for our Stake Conference this weekend.

All in all it was a pretty good week.   I missed almost all the activities due to appointments or pain, but everybody else had a really good time.  There was a lot for each person to do, and none of it was very expensive, which is a big bonus for me.  I’d love to hear about what you did so I can add it to my list of options.  Share below!

PBR riders or Rodeo clowns?

Was playing around again with some videos from last year.  Found these two gems that I remember taking.  It was a great night with good friends.  Too many people for my comfort, but I was happy to be there long enough to capture my two PBR riders in action…

So, which one is the PBR rider, and which is the rodeo clown?
