Josh Out at the Golf Course

Back in Missouri Josh’s Boy Scout Troop started working on the Golf merit badge.   They completed all of the required tasks except for playing 18 holes.  So in order to complete the badge we hit up our local golf guru, Greg Adams, and hit the course at Cedar Hills.

We did the first nine about 3 weeks ago, but it turned out that I had forgotten the camera, so sadly we don’t have any video of that.  On Tuesday we hit went at it again to finish off the 18 holes.

The men you see in the video are Greg Adams and his co-worker Jacob.  Greg gave Josh some great pointers and helped refine some skills.  I would have done more with him but Greg knows more and my back doesn’t let me do much.   Greg and Jacob were awesome to be with and play next to.

His First 18 Holes Ever

We were pretty slow since Josh is sooo new to the game.  We had two groups play through.  But Josh has gotten better and I think he really enjoys the competition of a solo sport like Golf.   Having to compete against yourself is new to him since he’s mainly only played team sports.  I’m sure basketball is still his preference, but I think golf will grow on him.

Any one who is knowledgeable enough to give him some good advice, or who would like to invite him to come play with you, please let us know.  He’d love to have a reason to escape the house this summer and hitting a range or playing a round would be perfect.

I’d love to have advice to offer him myself on his swing and such, but I was self-taught myself.  I don’t recognize what he needs to change or how he could improve.  I was a fair golfer when I was healthy, but I don’t know how to coach him at all.  So all good advice is welcome.

Hope you all enjoyed the video, and as always, feel free to offer tips or comments below!
